Materials: cotton, linen, rayon and wool; woven on 8 warps per inch on cotton warp.

“Rippled flight” and “Land in the sand” are the beginning of a series of artworks investigating the interconnectedness of nature: how shapes, lines, forms and patterns in the landscape naturally reflect and echo one another through changing light. This research has led to observing ripples in sand.

“Rippled flight” explores with reflected light and quality of line through textural and tonal surface but also plays with the ambiguity of wet sand reflections and ripples echoing bird flight. The rayon and mercerised cotton used give a subtle shimmer to the work depending on how the light catches it and the use of double and single weft plays with a sense of depth.
