Materials: cotton, linen, rayon and wool; woven on 8 warps per inch on cotton warp.

“Land in the sand” and “Rippled flight” are the beginning of a series of artworks investigating the interconnectedness of nature: how shapes, lines, forms and patterns in the landscape naturally reflect and echo one another through changing light. This research has led to observing ripples in sand.

“Land in the sand” explores light and quality of line through textural and tonal subtlety and how sand ripples echo distant island and headland forms. The rayon and mercerised cotton used give a subtle shimmer to the work depending on how the light catches it and the use of double and single weft plays with a sense of depth.
